This season I had rushed through it again. Remains cool, that setting of the forests and lakes, the characters (especially the Snells!), the music and the gray, faded use of color.
Still, I think it's a bit less than season 1. It has more panache. There are now too few new, appealing characters, too few WTF moments that break the languid atmosphere like in S1 ( - the death of Del, the death of that real estate agent's wife, the reason boats come to the sermons, etc. , and Wendy is getting too smart and smart for me.
That doesn't take away from the fact that I enjoyed the developments and the atmosphere. Great binge material and can't wait for a sequel 
And yes Ruth.. I can't imagine her other than the character she's portraying here

Season 1 was still refreshing with surprising events, but season 2 is a grind with increasingly unrealistic characters.
Wendy is suddenly a kind of Godfather, the boy is suddenly a money laundering expert and the cartel is represented by a woman with a short spicy haircut[ /spoiler]. I also think that the cartel is operating so weakly.
They should have left it at one season, because the end also feels forced to add another season. Wendy suddenly wants to stay because she enjoys power so much?
Netflix can finally make a good series I thought, but then they ruin it with a season 2. Time to look for another streaming service.

The first 5 episodes didn't grab me at all. After that it picks up somewhat the level of the 1st season and it all gets a bit more interesting.
Yet the atmosphere and the setting remain very cool. Only the developments of the Byrde family, with the exception of Martin Byrde, I find less successful. It's all just a little too unbelievable.
Still, I'm looking forward to season 3 which I will of course follow again.
