Oud België plot

Antwerp, 1978. The variety theater “Ancienne Belgique” presents a new revue every week. Local artists bring music, dance, skits and magic acts. That's entertainment on the Scheldt. In the wings and in the boxes it is not always a party and sometimes ambition and envy dominate because the competition among the artists is fierce. Especially now that one variety theater after the other is closing its doors because the public stays away and no government provides support. The main competitor is television. Not only does the audience stay at home for it, but many artists and musicians are forced to work for television.

Grote fan van Crets & Van Den Begin maar dit moet toch zowat hun zwakste werk ooit zijn. Oninteressant verhaal, locaties die belangrijk zijn in een serie als deze deden me weinig net als de kostuums, andere decors, de look van de personages zelfs, ... . Acteren zelf gebeurde ook lang niet altijd op niveau, nee hier kon ik weinig genot uit halen.

Big fan of Crets & Van Den Begin but this has to be their weakest work ever. Uninteresting story, locations that are important in a series like this didn't do much for me, just like the costumes, different sets, the look of the characters even, ... . Acting itself was not always done at a high level, no, I couldn't get much pleasure out of this.
