The Palestinian dream. It remains strong how 'Mo' (2025) portrays the fears and desires of Palestinians in America. Cold bureaucratic processes around asylum statuses. Difficulties in making ends meet financially. The fear of losing something of yourself when integrating, but at the same time the reality that Palestinians have no country to return to. What actually makes someone a Palestinian if that person is now fully part of American society? The second season of 'Mo' (2025) manages to broach charged discussions about the conflict between Israel and Palestine in a remarkably light-hearted way. Thanks to the strong jokes, it never feels like a preachy pamphlet, but you do feel for Mo's personal intifada against hummus and the Israeli who stole his girlfriend. It builds up to a poignant final episode in which all the symbolic hints fall into place when the Najjars finally return to Palestine. Will Mo be able to swallow his own pride in the face of so much injustice!?
