Mata Hari plot

Margaret MacLeod, persecuted by her ex-husband, has had to give up custody of her daughter and is at the mercy of fate. With no source of income left, she becomes a dancer in a desperate attempt to earn a living. Under the pseudonym Mata Hari, Margaret becomes a favorite of the European elite. The doors of luxurious mansions and villas open for her and each performance causes her to create more and more furore. But then the First World War is about to start and Mata Hari can hardly foresee what role she will play in the ensuing events.
