Lights Out plot

Patrick "Lights" Leary, a former heavyweight world champion, is an extremely proud, good-hearted Irish American who struggles to find his identity after retiring from his beloved boxing sport. After years of wear and tear in the ring, he is diagnosed with pugilistic dementia. Now Lights struggles to support his family and their comfortable lifestyle after his brother squanders Lights' savings. Leary must decide whether to accept the brutal and humiliating work of bailiff for a local blackmailer or whether he will make a comeback in the ring with all the health risks that it entails.
