Kindred plot
Dana James is a young black woman and aspiring writer who has let go of her life of familial obligations and moved to Los Angeles, ready to claim a future that feels all her own for once. But before she can settle into her new home, she is forcibly pulled back and forth in time to a nineteenth-century plantation to which she and her family are surprisingly and intimately connected.
