What a great series this is. One that keeps her secrets well, just as you would expect from an Irma Vep-esque figure - a little bit mysterious, and more than a little secretive.
Where I am normally not so easily charmed by the idea of a film within a film - soon much too navel-gazing - Assayas escapes this in a very elegant way by both making fun of his own film from 1996 and making an ode. bring to the original Les Vampires from 1915. Those three parts together form a very nice piece of film history. Very fun, and educational too.
Just like in the film, the soundtrack is very pleasant - very different, but just as surprising, and contrary to what often goes wrong nowadays, always supportive of the whole, never the upper hand. Vikander is fun, one of her better roles as far as I'm concerned. And also a nice supporting cast, and the whole thing in all possible languages mixed together. Very nicely done, and also very suitable for watching more than once - more and more details are emerging.
