'Hollands Hoop' remains a bit Breaking Bad in Groningen, but they have found their own tone in the second season. Those wooden Dutch farmers and the contrast with the Yugos, who set the rules as their own natural force, while Fokke tries to polder in order to get everyone on the same page and above all not to enter into conflict. And that atmosphere of Dutch craziness in American imitation, like Teup with her love for rockabilly and Elvis. The character of Peter van den Begin who wanders through the church as the ex-headhunter who has solved his father complex now that he has found the Lord. (Although...?) The episode in which the sixteen-year-old daughter loses her virginity but unwittingly finds herself at the center of her family's morbid drug adventure. It is the typical Dutch touches that make Hollands Hoop HH and not BB. Yet this season also fails to work towards a satisfying finale, because the many entanglements and dramatic conflicts once again lead mainly to black-comedy fun. It could have been a little less jolly and the series also deserved a more tragic fate scenario that fits the dark atmosphere.
