We follow the life of American writer Ernest Hemingway. As an ambulance soldier he was wounded in the First World War, as a successful author in 1920s Paris he was friends with Gertrude Stein, Scott Fitzgerald and Ezra Pound. He was a war correspondent in the Spanish Civil War, loved exciting sports like boxing and bullfighting, and was married four times. In 1961, like his father thirty-three years earlier, he committed suicide - allegedly because he didn't want to experience his own decline.
