Heksejakt plot

Ida Waage is a dynamic woman who works as a financial director at a prestigious law firm. One day she sees a suspicious invoice and quickly finds it in a money laundering operation linked to the company's largest customer, Peer Eggen. She warns her management, but to her horror, they turn on her and try to discredit her with a series of false accusations. With her job and credibility at risk, Ida continues to seek justice and alerts the police.

Uitstekende Noorse dramaserie over een klokkenluider bij een advocatenkantoor, dat schimmige lijntjes onderhoudt met bedrijfsleven en politiek. Het acteren van hoofdrolspeler Ingrid Bolsø Berdal was aanvankelijk voor mij gewöhnungsbedurftig, maar na anderhalve aflevering ben ik overtuigd. Berdal speelt klokkenluider Ida Waage (als CFO, volgens de vertaler 'office manager') en doet dat met verve en goed invoelbaar. Haar dilemma's zijn herkenbaar; wat zet je op het spel, hoe belangrijk is de waarheid, hoe eenzaam is deze strijd en wat zijn de gevolgen voor familie en collega's? Discriminatie, valse beschuldigingen, intimidatie, seksuele intimidatie; er lijkt hier volop werk voor de vertrouwenspersoon. Die er in de serie niet is overigens. Het scenario van de makers van Frikjent / Acquitted is levendig, en kent een paar dramatische plotwendingen. Ondanks een enkele zwakke plek (de opdringerige rol van de journaliste bijvoorbeeld), wordt hier een authentiek en geloofwaardig verhaal verteld.

Excellent Norwegian drama series about a whistleblower at a law firm, who maintains shady lines with business and politics. The acting of lead actor Ingrid Bolsø Berdal was initially gewöhnungsbedurftig for me, but after an episode and a half I'm convinced. Berdal plays whistleblower Ida Waage (as CFO, according to the translator 'office manager') and does so with verve and sympathetic. Her dilemmas are recognizable; what are you risking, how important is the truth, how lonely is this struggle and what are the consequences for family and colleagues?

Discrimination, false accusations, harassment, sexual harassment; there seems to be plenty of work for the confidential adviser here. Which isn't in the series, by the way. The screenplay from the makers of Frikjent / Acquitted is lively, with a few dramatic plot twists. Despite a single flaw (the intrusive role of the journalist, for example), an authentic and believable story is told here.

Uitstekende serie. Met veel plezier bekeken. Spannend tot in de laatste aflevering. Maar wat Gordon Shumway ook zegt: niet alle verhaallijnen worden goed afgewikkeld en het slot is nogal onbevredigend. Dat vraagt dus om een vervolgseizoen. Vraag is alleen of dit verhaal dat verdient.

Excellent series. Enjoyed watching. Exciting until the last episode. But whatever Gordon Shumway says, not all storylines are well wound and the ending is rather unsatisfactory. That calls for a follow-up season. The only question is whether this story deserves it.

Op zich een hele goede serie met een prima verhaal waarbij onder andere de vaart en de spanning er goed in zaten... tot en met de zesde aflevering. Namelijk vanaf dat moment vond ik dat er behoorlijk de klad in kwam. Tegenover de gedegen opbouw was de afronding te slap en te snel, waarbij er ook nog eens een duidelijke uitloop naar een vervolgseizoen werd gecreëerd. Die laatste twee delen deden wat mij betreft afbreuk aan het geheel; te weinig inhoud. De cast en de manier waarop de serie verfilmd is waren verder prima. En wat de intimidaties in deze serie betrof; ik moest een paar maal aan 'The Voice' denken.

In itself a very good series with a great story in which, among other things, the speed and tension were good ... up to and including the sixth episode. Namely, from that moment on I felt that things got pretty messed up. In contrast to the solid build-up, the completion was too weak and too fast, which also created a clear run-off to a follow-up season. Those last two parts detracted from the whole as far as I'm concerned; too little content. The cast and the way the series is filmed were also excellent. And as for the harassment in this series; I had to think about 'The Voice' a few times.
