Gilmore Girls plot

Lorelai Victoria Gilmore, named after her father's mother, grew up in Hartford. Her parents, Richard and Emily, are of the upper class. Lorelai's life was already planned out for her, but she turned out to be a stubborn woman who didn't like the formal and low-key world of the rich. At the age of sixteen, Lorelai becomes pregnant by her barely older boyfriend Christopher Hayden, also a free spirit from a wealthy family. As their parents negotiate a marriage, Christopher and Lorelai watch from the sidelines. Lorelai has a daughter, whom she names after herself (Lorelai Leigh), called Rory. Not wanting the child to get in the way of Christopher's ambitions, Lorelai decides to raise her daughter alone.
