Försvunna Människor plot

On a sweltering summer day, Erwin rolls his tanker over the Öresund Bridge into Sweden, as he has done so many times before. But what seems like a routine ride is really a nervous ride for him. He smuggles eight Syrian refugees in the tank. Erwin does it because he wants to help them. His boss Lunt does it for the money, to save his transport company. Pregnant Mouna is one of the refugees. When she and a feverish boy can't handle the stuffy air in the tank, Erwin hides them in the back of the driver's cab. Suddenly he sees a police checkpoint in front of him on the road. Erwin has reached a point where his life will take a dramatic turn.

Another class series from Scandinavia. In addition to drama and thriller, this series also has a decent crime content. A strong story with some intense moments. The first part is a bit too boring because of some too long-winded scenes. From part 2 the whole thing really starts to take shape and the cat and mouse game begins. The cast is fine with Ville Virtanen as Lunt (known from the series Sorjonen (2016 - 2019), among other things). Unfortunately there are a few scenes that dampen my score a bit with Lunt's accident at the end as the highlight. Despite that, this series is recommended for fans of Scandinavian productions.

The six-part Swedish thriller drama Missing People (Försvunna Människor), by veteran screenwriter Ulf Ryberg (Millennium, Headhunters), highlights a universally urgent theme; the flow of refugees to Sweden. Lead actors Erwin (Peter Viitanen - Top Dog, Sthlm Rekviem) and Rainer (Ville Virtanen - Sorjonen) are at the heart of transporting Syrian refugees from Denmark to Sweden. What makes Missing People fascinating is the despair, regret and uncertainty of Erwin and Rainer. No black and white story about good and evil here, but an overwhelming story about ordinary people who make mistakes.

Missing People is excellently constructed. After the oppressive opening episode, all storylines slowly come together in good background stories with depth. The plot is not surprising, but sufficient. Despite a few too many coincidences, Missing People is a topical drama about a painful event. Missing People was still called Lost on an old movie poster. And perhaps that reflects the content of this series even better. Lost in everyday life, lost in the dream of the future.
