More than ten years ago, Hanna and Paul adopted their now 14-year-old daughter Zawadi from Uganda. The three of them form a loving family, and Zawadi's adoption is a success. She has a nice life, school, friends, and does everything an average Dutch teenager does. One day when Hanna sees a documentary about 'child trafficking', she recognizes the orphanage in Uganda where she and Paul picked up their daughter. It raises questions about the adoption process at the time, and Hanna increasingly realizes that she does not know all the facts.
