Christy plot

At 19, Christy Huddleston leaves her childhood home to become a school teacher in the Great Smoky Mountains. In this remote area she becomes acquainted with the savage inhabitants of the high mountains and their fiery pride, grinding poverty, dark superstitions, but also a deep desire for beauty and truth.
