Tokidoki plot

Paulien Cornelisse looks at Japan with her view on language. Take kawaii which means cute and plays an essential role in Japanese society. This contrasts with the invaluable aspects of Japanese society: the fact that Koreans are seen as inferior, that employees regularly work themselves to death, and that illegitimate children are totally unacceptable. There is almost no social security, but during the nuclear disaster in Fukushima, busloads of volunteers were dragged daily from Tokyo to the disaster area. With her sense of humor and language, Paulien Cornelisse explores the land of the rising sun in the series. Each episode of Tokidoki, which means "sometimes" in Japanese, is hung on a unique Japanese word, which is actually impossible to translate.
