The Trap: What Happened to Our Dream of Freedom plot

A 2007 documentary series that examines how the Western concept of individual freedom changed drastically after World War II, and paradoxically led to a restrictive system of social control and increasing inequality. It highlights the rise of a simplistic view of human nature rooted in Cold War paranoia, which was applied to society in the 1990s by governments of both the left and the right through market mechanisms and performance-oriented indicators. Curtis argues that this fixation on numbers and statistics stifles the human experience and has led to a cold management culture that constitutes a man-made, technocratic trap for modern man, in which he is caught.
