The Innocent Man plot

On December 7, 1982, 21-year-old waitress Debbie Carter is murdered in her apartment. The police, who have virtually no clues, are under great pressure to quickly find the perpetrator or perpetrators. Ron Williamson, a downtrodden local sports hero, is one of the last to see Debbie alive. At least, that's what a witness claims. Williamson is arrested, tried and convicted. The verdict: the death penalty.
