In tegenstelling tot veel mensen vind ik Kylie helemaal niet schattig of echt of leuk. Ik heb niet de indruk dat ik haar ook maar iets beter heb leren kennen. Ze doet me denken aan Lady Diana, die wist ‘onschuldig en puur’ ook uit te melken tot het naadje. Kylie speelt het goed, traantje op het juiste moment: Michael die haar hart breekt, hoe kàn hij, bij onze kleine, springerige lieveling. Dat ze hetzelfde heeft gedaan bij Jason Donovan, wordt weggewoven, ze laat zich nu eenmaal niet graag in een doosje stoppen Ik begeef me op gevaarlijk terrein, maar zelfs bij de kanker heb ik het idee dat die strategisch wordt ingezet. Weer wat goed getimede tranen een nog een scoop ook. Kylie is met haar marketing team zeer bedreven in het neerzetten van een persona. Een en al liefde en goedheid. En zo bescheiden. Ik heb haar nog nooit geloofd, het gaat bij haar allemaal om haarzelf, het enige onderwerp waar ze echt warm voor loopt. Ze heeft mij er ook nooit van kunnen overtuigen dat ze een goede zangeres is. Wel is ze er heel kundig in om talent om zich heen te verzamelen dat haar ster doet stralen.

Unlike many people, I don't find Kylie cute, genuine, or nice at all. Consequently, I don't get the impression that I've gotten to know her any better. She reminds me of Lady Diana, who also knew how to milk 'innocent and pure' to the bone.

Kylie plays it well, a tear at the right moment: Michael breaking her heart, how could he, with our little, bouncy darling. The fact that she did the same to Jason Donovan is brushed aside; she simply doesn't like being pigeonholed.

I am venturing into dangerous territory, but even with the cancer, I get the feeling it is being deployed strategically. More well-timed tears, and a scoop too.

Kylie and her marketing team are very skilled at creating a persona. Pure love and kindness. And so modest. I have never believed her; for her, it is all about herself, the only subject she is truly passionate about. She has also never been able to convince me that she is a good singer. However, she is very adept at gathering talent around her that makes her star shine.
