On 29 May 1985, the European Cup 1 final was played between Liverpool and Juventus in the Heysel Stadium in Brussels. What should have been a beautiful evening of football quickly turned into a bloody tragedy. 39 people died, hundreds were injured and millions of TV viewers were 'live' witnesses that evening. A disaster whose aftermath lasted for years. 40 years after the events, director Jan Verheyen looks back on the events in the international documentary 'The Heysel Drama'. Using more than 60 testimonies in 5 countries, one of the biggest scars in Belgian history is reconstructed.
