Conspiracy theories are of all times. Conspiracy theorists often distrust the plans of elites, governments, scientists and media. Under the influence of the corona crisis, this distrust has grown enormously and we are confronted with conspiracy theories in the news much more often than before. Critics are falling over each other; from 'you should not give them a stage, because that is dangerous' to 'you have to talk to them, otherwise they will radicalise'. Filemon Wesselink chooses the latter and portrays the conspiracy theorist. After all, we never actually see the person behind it. Who are they? Why do they think what they think? And can you learn something from it? With an open mind, Philemon approaches them and delves into the lives of the conspiracy theorists.

Filemon en de Complotten season 1

Nice documentary series, which is very repetitive. I myself am not so suspicious of the government, but it is good that dissent is also given a stage in a democracy. Then it's good to see that not all opponents are 'wappies' (they do pass by here too) but that people also have something to say. I don't necessarily think Filemon is a fantastic documentary maker, but he does give people space. However, it soon becomes apparent that all these people have the same motives (distrust, burnouts, bankruptcies) and the episodes are therefore often the same.
