There are endless conflicts all over the world. What's it like growing up in it? And what do you do when faced with the 'fight or flight' dilemma? Each episode, Sahil Amar Aïssa portrays two people who grew up in the same conflict area. One fled to the Netherlands to try to build a new future, the other stayed behind to fight for a better life there. How did their lives turn out differently after that crucial decision and how are they doing now? Sahil examines the impact of these fundamental choices and seeks out both those who fled and those left behind. For this he travels to Armenia, Colombia and Gaza, among others. What is it like to leave everything behind for a better future? And how does it feel when your loved ones leave for a foreign country while you are the one left behind in a war zone?
