The world is littered with examples of incredible engineering projects and buildings designed to make life easier for those who used them, to amaze those who came to see them, and to make money for those who commissioned, designed and built them. They were a dream. Each of these extraordinary places is home to a wealth of powerful and compelling stories. We see and hear about some of the most spectacular examples of abandoned engineering the world has ever known. The series shows how and why they were built, looks at the financial and social costs of their failure, and examines the environmental and ecological consequences.
