Witse plot
The idiosyncratic and passionate police detective Witse is presented with the most diverse murder cases. Witse and his team of detectives and agents of the federal criminal investigation, murder section Halle go to great lengths to solve these crimes. In the first episode, Witse is still just a chief inspector in another police zone. Only in the second episode does he become a commissioner in Halle. From then on, the regular secondary characters are added: the sympathetic Dimitri, the insufferable Van Deun and the "Ice Rabbit", played by Tine Van den Brande. Inge Paulussen would only join later, but has a guest role as someone else in the sixth episode. Other guest roles are Wim Willaert, Marc Van Eeghem, Nand Buyl, Marie Vinck and other acquaintances.
Witse is surly and petulant on the outside, but very driven to solve crimes. He hates administration; he is often at loggerheads with colleagues and superiors. His private life is not a party either.
The intrigue is solid. It's about unmasking the killer, but especially about the different environments: from pigeon fanciers and skippers to businessmen and artists. The intermediate language - no Standard Dutch, but also no dialect - comes across naturally. The level is the same as comparable foreign series. The jingle with the harmonica sets the right mood.

A good series with a great performance by Hubert Damen. Even though all the episodes are similar and sometimes a bit predictable, I still enjoy watching this series. It also brings me nostalgia. The music is also top-notch.
