On the border between Germany and Poland, the mother-daughter team Karin Lossow, former public prosecutor, and detective chief Julia Thiel investigate criminal cases on the contemplative Baltic Sea island of Usedom. However, their personal relationship is permanently put to the test, because Karin killed Julia's father in the heat of battle a few years ago. With Karin's experience and help, the crimes are solved while she also deals with family and community issues.
