The Responder plot
The series follows Chris, an unethical and unconventional cop who is the first to be sent to a crime scene on his night shifts in Liverpool. While trying to keep his head above water both privately and professionally, he must team up with a new partner, the rookie Rachel. They soon discover that their partnership will either help them or destroy them.

The six-part drama series The Responder is about the dividing line between right and wrong. But what if you as copper do something wrong with good intentions? This British drama is realistic and intense, starring a sublime Martin Freeman (A Confession, Breeders, Fargo). Where Line Of Duty sheds light on integrity from the anti-corruption unit AC-12, in The Responder we see the perspective from the cop on the street. The fine storylines, subtle subplots and the excellent acting make for an unexpected, but powerful drama. And a wonderful series debut from creator and writer Tony Schumacher, a former police officer in Liverpool. Good, better, British.
