Stanley H. follows the life of one of the most notorious criminals in the Netherlands. The series tells the story of Stanley Hillis' career: from gentleman bank robber to ruthless drug criminal. Charming Stanley Hillis' criminal career flourished in the 1990s during the so-called IRT affair. The police deliberately allowed drug transports with the aim of breaking up large drug networks. In this climate, Stanley H. thrived: with the help of the police and customs, Hillis traded thousands of kilos of soft and hard drugs, weapons and explosives for years. It ends with his mysterious death in 2011, a liquidation under the eyes of the police. A criminal settlement that is still unresolved.

Laatste afl. in de herhaling nog kunnen kijken. Eens met xancran dat Spitzenberger het goed deed, maar ook de rest van de boeven was prima te doen. De hoofdrolspeler aan de kant van de 'goeien' was wat minder. Ik kende het verhaal deels (irt-affaire, liquidaties en Ted Vreeken zal gewoon Fred Teeven zijn?), maar vreemd dat De Neus dan nergens terug te vinden was...? Er stond sowieso al 'Gebaseerd op...', dus er zal hier ook wel wat met de feiten gesjoemeld zijn. Verder is 4 afleveringen gewoon te kort hier. Het vervalt grotendeels tot een opsomming van 'hoogtepunten' en daardoor komt het drama, dat zeker aanwezig is en hier en daar best aanslaat (als je het als fictie bekijkt, en dat is het uiteindelijk), niet optimaal uit de verf. Toch al met al wel te doen. Het roken leek per aflevering minder te worden, maar ik kan me vergissen. 2,5*.

Can still watch the last episode in the rerun. Agree with xancran that Spitzenberger did well, but the rest of the crooks were fine too. The protagonist on the side of the 'good guys' was a bit less. I partly knew the story (irt affair, liquidations and Ted Vreeken will just be Fred Teeven?), but strange that De Neus was nowhere to be found...? It already said 'Based on...' anyway, so there must have been some tampering with the facts here as well.

4 episodes is just too short here. It largely falls to a list of 'highlights' and as a result the drama, which is certainly present and quite catchy here and there (if you look at it as fiction, which it is in the end), doesn't come out optimally.

Still doable anyway. The smoking seemed to decrease with each episode, but I could be wrong.
