Prime Suspect 1973 tells the story of twenty-two-year-old Jane Tennison who experiences her first day in the police force. Jane is a former probation officer who is now faced with a complicated murder case. In addition, she has to deal with unvarnished sexism and is completely thrown into the deep end.

Nice prequel to the superior series Prime Suspect with Helen Mirren, played here in her younger years by the incredibly beautiful Stefanie Martini. She does a great job, although her interpretation of the character does not quite rhyme with Mirren's more distant approach. The plot is not very complex but entertaining enough, slowly building to an exciting climax. The period is also well done and the entire cast is on a roll. Would have liked to see a second series of this, but unfortunately that is all it has been for now.
