Father Brown plot

The series is set in the early 1950s, in the fictional Cotswold village of Kembleford, where Father Brown is the pastor of St. Mary's Catholic Church. Father Brown is a bit of a disorderly and mild-mannered Roman Catholic priest. His apparent innocence and playful humor is coupled with a razor-sharp intellect. His greatest strength, both as a priest and as a detective, is his love and understanding of other people. He is not there to judge, but to save souls.

A crime comedy series. Not more than that.

A great asset that such series play is that the characters are partly caricatures.

After a few episodes you know them through and through, their specific traits, you already know in advance how they are going to react and you smile in advance at their reactions. Easy watching.

"Father Brown" is such a typical product. The frivolous Lady Felicia, the meddlesome parish secretary (what a position, I mean), the inspector who would love to solve a case but is always beaten in the sprint by the man who it all revolves around: Father Brown.

Sometimes funny, sometimes a bit childish, sometimes believable, sometimes not, and our good priest always has to hurry because not only does he have to guide his fellow villagers, he also has to solve the mystery and he has only half an hour. But it works.

Light-hearted entertainment with a criminal side that is ultimately not taken seriously.
