Least season so far, mainly due to the lack of an engaging storyline. The characters are as crazy as ever, this time with a beautiful double role by Ewan McGregor and a bizarre role by David Thewlis. About halfway through, things get a bit more exciting, but it's still a bit of a struggle. Many subplots are barely relevant and things are unnecessarily stretched. At times still very good and visually everything is nicely put together again, but when the downward trend, started with season two, is continued even further, I wonder if I will still watch a fourth season.

After two fantastic seasons, with the second season in particular being great, this third season is a lot less. The idea is the same, but the effect is less on all fronts. The story doesn't have enough fat on the bones to captivate 10 episodes, it doesn't really get exciting and it doesn't really work in terms of humor either. Even visually and musically it is a bit less, but still very strong and almost remains a reason in itself to watch this series.
The best part is for Stuhlbarg who doesn't know where to look, the soul paw. Great played. Thewlis plays a real character and does an excellent job. He brings some jeu, which is also necessary.

Okay, now I've watched all 3 and I still think season 2 is by far the best. One thing is clear to me after 3 seasons of Fargo, the Coen brothers are not very fond of the police in Minnesota, absolutely no advertising for the forces there.
That immediately brings me to my biggest frustration, the degree of lack of common sense and general intelligence in a large part of the characters is at times cringe-inducing, you really have to love that I guess. I found that to be the least annoying with season 2, maybe that's why I thought that was the best season.
All in all a nice season but nothing particularly special.
