The Upshaws plot

An African-American working-class family from Indiana strives for a better life and domestic happiness in the midst of everyday life. The family patriarch tries to avoid his past mistakes by becoming a better husband and father to his family. On his way to his goal, he goes through several struggles, but he and his family try to overcome them all.
