The Job plot

Mike McNeil is a New York City police detective known for his unconventional way of fighting crime. Mike drinks heavily and takes medication when he wants to. However, this has such an effect on Mike's private life that is difficult enough with both a wife and a girlfriend. Mike and his colleagues try to work as effectively as possible while keeping the chaos of his private life under control.
