Sunny plot
The life of American Suzie, who lives in Kyoto, Japan, is turned upside down when her husband and son disappear in a mysterious plane crash. As 'consolation' she receives Sunny, a new household robot made by her husband's electronics company. Although Suzie initially resents Sunny's attempts to fill the void in her life, they gradually develop an unexpected friendship. Together they discover the dark truth about what really happened to Suzie's family and become dangerously entangled in a world Suzie never knew existed.
