Schalkse Ruiters plot
Schalkse Ruiters was based on the principle that viewers should not always believe that everything they saw on TV is necessarily real. That is why De Pauw and Lenaerts showed three reports every episode in which the viewers, their central guest and the studio audience had to guess which of them were real or fictional. In between, De Pauw and Lenaerts joked and showed sketches with them in the lead role. They also regularly laughed at their central guest by showing archive images or hidden camera shots. Here too, real images were often interspersed with films that had been staged.

Great original concept that has had the viewing figure record in Flanders for years. It's amazing how (then) two very young TV geniuses get relatively some carte blanche. And whatever the result, daring, topical, sharp, funny, moving, and much more, this series had it all.
