A pleasant surprise!

After the disappointing first season, I doubted whether I should start here. The premonition that that season seemed to end when it started to get interesting persuaded me to give this a chance anyway and I'm happy about that. The second season is exactly what I want from GLOW: we finally get to see more of the material used for the show (so more wrestling matches) and the 80s atmosphere comes out better. I still think that I have more with certain characters than with others, but in general I can say that each character seemed to come into its own here. I could relate to Ruth surprisingly well in particular, as I found her irritating at times in the first season. Good roles from Alison Brie and Marc Maron. I also empathized with characters like Rhonda, Bash and Justine. I laughed out loud several times and I also liked the plot twists. The ending even made me curious about the sequel.

3.5*

Watched right after season 1 and I have to say that everything is consistent. The atmosphere, the characters, the humor. All the familiar elements are there, only it is put down with just a little more self-confidence. The only reason my rating isn't higher is that I didn't find every episode equally strong.

All in all it remains a relaxed series for in between. Very nice.

On to season 3!
