Good fantasy series that, unlike The Witcher, has a finer style. In The Witcher series, everything is much more grim, here you have a more extensive color palette. That gives the atmosphere a certain warmth, warmth that Lyra needs, but that she has never known through her "selfish" parents (who pursue greater things than raising their own child). The soundtrack is great and the CG is certainly not inferior to the best movies. Magnificent design of the polar bears, they look lifelike and the interaction between Lyra or with other bears feels very natural and realistic. I will definitely see season 2.

Great fantasy series, based on the books by Philip Pullman, previously filmed as The Golden Compass. This series from HBO is significantly better and more grandiose, with an excellent cast, beautiful production design and first-class special effects. Especially the daemons, the souls of the main characters who are inextricably linked with them as animal companions, look great. This first season is mainly introduction and build-up, but there is enough tension, mystery and spectacle to make you curious about the second series.

I read the books as a teenager and loved them.

From the first minutes I was immediately back in the mood of when I was reading the books, which could only be a good omen and effective: I seriously enjoyed this first season.

The only thing that is as close as the atmosphere in the books to me is LOTR, so no small beer.

The series is completely at HBO level in terms of production: actors, atmosphere, camera work, music... The whole package!

Since they were good books, the story is of course also mustache, and as we know HBO can make a beautiful translation to the small screen.

It's nice that I can still remember details, but I can't remember the whole story line, so I can just rediscover everything

Hopefully they do all the books!

And "the golden compass"? I have no idea what those bunglers hoped to achieve with that, but for me comparison is even too good for that film.
