Miami Vice season 1

When the series came out I only saw a few fragments of it and now bought the box so many years later (no idea what my family insisted on watching on TV ). And what a huge stroke of luck this is. A beautiful combination of police work, style, architecture, music, and eighties vibes. Revolutionary in its cinematic approach to a series for its time, if the bonus documentaries are to be believed. The focus was on cinematography as well as the right music with the right image, which increased the cost of each episode. All the great pop artists of that time come by: Phil Collins, Sting, U2, The Stones etc. And then there is of course the sublime soundtrack, composed and performed entirely on synth by Jan Hammer.
The combination of Don Johnson and Philip Michael Thomas works perfectly, but the supporting roles are also excellent in terms of character. In terms of casting regular contributions from guest actors, including for me most notable Ed O'Neill, Bruce Willis and Pam Grier. Nice to see them at work in their younger years.
The scenarios are also always mustache. Not too complicated actually, and always attractive. Bring on the next seasons.
