True crime film, at times brilliant, in terms of script, editing, interpretation,... occasionally too much emphasis on the naivety of the couple and... of the police force.
Ed Sinclair, husband of the once again sublime Olivia Coleman, was responsible for the script of this film and succeeds in conveying to the viewer the doubt and discussion that still exists around this case.
In any case, a fascinating miniseries in which the remarkable act of David Thewlis can also be noted.

The four-part Landscapers can best be described as a surreal tragicomic true-crime drama. Landscapers tells the story of married couple Susan (an incomparable Olivia Colman) and Christopher Edwards (David Thewlis), who are suspected of murdering Susan's parents. The complex love between Susan and Christopher must provide an explanation of the how and why of the murder. Are their explanations correct, or is everyone being led up the garden path?
The introverted Susan and Christopher flee to France and into escapism. By imagining themselves as leading actors in famous films and by corresponding with film star Gérard Depardieu. With flashbacks and visions, Landscapers becomes an almost theatrical film adaptation between constantly changing room and film sets. Despite the strong acting performances, creator/writer Ed Sinclair (husband of Colman) manages to make Landscapers a remarkably superficial and indifferent whole. The idiosyncratic and creative style seems to be there mainly for the sake of form. This approach is original and daring, but not successful.
