I could also choose the movie, but in the end I chose the series. Interesting series, typically Sono with many bizarre characters, colorful images and unexpected events. Yet I am not completely convinced, there are too many lines in my feeling that are rushed or that lead to nowhere. Just to name a few, the Dracula clan disappears completely from view at some point, making the whole battle between the clans feel completely irrelevant. Also characters who die randomly, like Yamada.

I scanned through the film and the main differences are that after the big climax in the seventh episode, the series continues with a contemplative part (which is considered boring by some people in online reviews; I found it to be interesting on the other hand), while so the film ends there with an alternate ending. I'll probably watch the film in its entirety someday, but afterwards I don't regret choosing the series. 3.5*.
