Maltese - Il Romanzo del Commissario plot

Dario Maltese is police commissioner of the narcotics department in Rome. In the late 1970s, he decides to return to his hometown of Trapani for the wedding of a colleague and friend of his, who is murdered before his eyes. Dario then moves to Sicily and takes his place there. He learns that his colleague had discovered links between the mafia, politics and finance and he decides to continue this investigation.

I really liked it too, the story and the acting were there. Locations were nice and the whole series has a certain feel of atmosphere.

And yet I wasn't blown away anywhere, everything went just a little too slow for me to be really impressed I think. A bit boring here and there. Regularly really good, 3* seems about right to me.

Even more than the action-packed and extremely exciting final episodes, I was charmed by what came before: the clever structure, the complex but subtle unraveling of the backgrounds of a gruesome murder, the sketch of the silent but not so strange Sicily, the mentality and character drawing , the links to the policeman's private life, the charm of some characters....

Strong series, I think, that kept me captivated throughout the entire length.

Dates from 2017. Already 4 years. The lock, however, leaves the door wide open to a second season... if there isn't one already.
