United States of Tara plot
United States of Tara is about Tara Gregson, a middle-aged woman who has suffered from dissociative identity disorder since childhood. She took medication for this, but stops to investigate the cause of her illness. As a result, her illness regains the upper hand and her three personalities resurface: there's T, a teenage girl who often thinks about sex; Buck, a male trucker and Alice, a housewife from the 1950s. Gradually she evolves and even a fourth personality emerges: Gimme. Her family has to learn to deal with those personalities, which is especially difficult for her children Kate and Marshall. However, her sister Charmaine believes that Tara is not really sick and is acting.
