Space: 1999 plot

It is 1999 and a base has been built on the moon. Moon base Alpha ensures the storage of nuclear waste from Earth and the conduct of research. Moon base Alpha is manned with 311 crew members. On September 13, 1999, a disaster occurs: the nuclear waste explodes in a gigantic chain reaction that sends the moon out of its orbit and into deep space. The moon travels like a giant spaceship through the universe and in the process the Alphans encounter strange worlds and their inhabitants, which are sometimes friendly, sometimes dangerous.
