Jo Nesbo's Detective Hole plot
Harry is a brilliant but tormented detective struggling with his inner demons after losing his best friend. His colleague and archrival, Tom Waaler, operates on the opposite side of the law. As the two navigate the murky ethical boundaries of the criminal justice system, Harry must do everything he can to catch a serial killer and bring the corrupt Waaler to justice before it's too late.

My wife said after the fifth episode, "Is this going to take much longer? I am going to watch it all the way through, but it’s not all that great for a Scandinavian series." As is usually the case, she is right. No matter how hard the amazing Santelmann tries, it just doesn't grab me at all.
It's getting all over the place, and then that ridiculous nonsense about those gangs with those annoying youths. As The Daily Mail rightly says, better just read Nesbo.
If you want to watch a good Norwegian series, there are plenty of good ones, like the very best for me: Exit, which also stars Santelmann in a leading role.
Lately, I haven't been too happy with Netflix's selection...

Great series. The final episode, in particular, is nail-bitingly suspenseful.
There are several storylines surrounding Harry Hole. Well and clearly presented.
The issue of weapons carrying by the Norwegian police plays a prominent role. Yet they make eager use of them.
I can't quite place a few situations in the series that aren't resolved well. Of course, Nesbo also wants to lead you astray. And he succeeds quite well.
Nice pace in the series.
Great camerawork.
And the actors are top-notch and, above all, well-cast. Without wanting to detract from the other actors, I think the actor who plays Tom (Joel Kinnaman) as the super creep is excellent.
In short, a solid Norwegian series that calls for a sequel.
