Odissea plot

Odysseus, king of Ithaca, who has left for the Trojan War, has been absent for twenty years. His wife Penelope is courted by a group of princes, the so-called "suitors", who occupy the house of Odysseus, who they think is dead, and squander his possessions. With the exception of Poseidon, the gods are kind to Odysseus and hold a council to decide on his return. The goddess Athena travels to Ithaca in the guise of a traveller to encourage Telemachus, Odysseus' son, who has remained under the guardianship of his old mentor and has been excluded from palace life by the suitors. On Athena's advice, Telemachus calls a council of Ithaca to denounce the misdeeds of the suitors and then sets out in secret to find his father.
