The TMF Story (2025)

The old footage is fun to watch and I had forgotten many VJs before I watched this documentary. But there was much more to get out of it. It remains very superficial, as if it was made for the same audience that watched TMF 20 years ago, while those people have also grown up.

Netflix often makes its documentaries a bit long-winded, but this is the other extreme where almost every anecdote is dealt with in a minute.

On the one hand, it is interesting to hear it all, but otherwise, it is a meaningless documentary. It jumps from one topic to another, is too fast, and too superficial, lacking any depth whatsoever. What is the relationship like now with the ex-colleagues? Do they still see each other? Why are they all going their separate ways? Is there still friction? What else happened behind the scenes? How was it all founded? What has changed since the MTV takeover? And so on and so forth. It could have contained so much more.
