Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman plot

The series begins in the year 1867. After the death of her father, Josef Quinn, Michaela Quinn, a wealthy female doctor from Boston, travels to the small town of Colorado Springs to set up her own practice. With the help of rough Byron Sully and a woman named Charlotte Cooper, she learns to adapt to her new environment. Charlotte is soon bitten by a rattlesnake, and dies from the effects. After her death, Quinn takes over the care of Charlotte's three children, Matthew, Colleen and Brian.
