The Crow Girl plot
The story begins with the gruesome discovery of a teenage boy’s body left in plain sight. Based on the Swedish novel by Erik Axl Sund, The Crow Girl is a British thriller with a Scandinavian feel. The Crow Girl chronicles grim and dark stories following the murder of a young man. The tension is ratcheted up considerably, and the various subplots, though initially confusing, are neatly and surprisingly wrapped up.
The partnership between DCI Jeanette Kilburn (Eve Myles - Keeping Faith) and DI Lou Stanley (Dougray Scott - Vigil) is initially characterized by improbable bickering and know-it-all attitudes, but as the murder case grows more serious, so do these detectives. Especially when the help of psychotherapist Sophia Craven is called in, an icy Katherine Kelly (Protection, Innocent)
The Crow Girl is a series about strong women. The men are often shortchanged, often creepy, corrupt, pitiful, or indifferent. The six-part series remains elusively mysterious yet somewhat sketchy, and it takes a while for The Crow Girl to reveal her secrets. Nevertheless, this is solid craftsmanship and recommended for fans of The Chestnut Man or the British Manhunt.
