The Adventures of Blinky Bill plot

Blinky Bill is a koala who lives in Greenpatch with all his friends. To make matters worse, their beautiful village is destroyed by humans and they have to rebuild everything. In addition, they also have to deal with their annoying neighbors; a notorious dingo family. Blinky also goes on all kinds of adventures. He gets lost in the jungle and makes a world trip in a hot air balloon.

Ik was verliefd op de handgetekende animatiestijl en de koddige poppetjes in deze serie, maar ook omdat je met kangoeroes, wallaby's en koala's zo ongeveer het schattigste bij elkaar hebt uit het dierenrijk. Of het de tand des tijds heeft doorstaan wil ik eigenlijk niet weten. Of dat er inmiddels misschien een oerlelijke, zielloze CGI-versie bestaat waarmee de jeugdherinneringen van twintigers en dertigers genadeloos worden vertrapt. Nee, ik koester mijn warme momentjes met 'hey hey Blinky Bill!'

I loved the hand-drawn animation style and the droll characters in this series, but also because kangaroos, wallabies and koalas are just about the cutest thing in the animal kingdom. I don't know if it has stood the test of time. Or that there may now be a hideously ugly, soulless CGI version that mercilessly tramples the childhood memories of people in their twenties and thirties. No, I cherish my warm moments with 'hey hey Blinky Bill!'
