Amusing series with colorful characters based on a real TV show from the 80s. It could have been a little sharper here and there. Nice outfit and a nice cast. Bring on the next season.

I found this a bit disappointing to be honest. I'm a fan of 80s pop culture, so that was also the main reason I was interested in this. The decoration indeed makes it clear that the series is set in this period, but in my opinion it could have been much thicker. The soundtrack, with songs like Under Pressure and Head over Heels, is certainly okay, but I had hoped for a bit more music per episode.

Nevertheless, the decoration (the visual) is still what kept me watching. The problem is that the content of the series isn't quite my thing either. The pilot and the first few episodes are still very promising, but in the end the whole design process of the wrestling show is not very interesting. I find the main character Ruth a bit dull and herself insufferable at times when she shows her acting skills to the rest of the group, including her definitive Russian character. Her rivalry with Debbie is interesting, but I thought it was a shame that this is already going cold war after the first episode. A lot of characters hardly come out (the wolf girl) and 3/4 of the characters I don't even know by name after seeing the tenth episode.

It's certainly not bad, but I did experience this first season of GLOW as a disappointment. I'm not really looking forward to the second season, but who knows, maybe I'll give it another chance by then. After all, I still have the feeling that this season ends when it just starts to get interesting.

2.5*

The first season of Glow looks nice and works great in several ways. The humor and the cynical tone make the series very enjoyable. Especially the role of Marc Maron as the director makes me laugh out loud at times.

Furthermore, it is hard to imagine that the frail Alison Brie could play a wrestler, but it does so with conviction. Here and there the series is a bit bare and not all storylines come out equally well, but enough fun things happen to keep the attention constantly. It also helps that each episode only lasts half an hour, which makes it a bit easier to watch.

Sympathetic series that makes you look forward to the next season.
