Riverdale plot

As a new school year begins, the town of Riverdale is still reeling from the recent death of popular high school student Jason Blossom. Archie Andrews is a typical American teenager, but since the summer holidays he realizes that he wants to make a career in music. This is despite the sudden end of the forbidden relationship with the young music teacher, Mrs. Grundy, leaving him without a mentor. In addition, Cheryl Blossom appears to be keeping a secret about the mysterious death of her twin brother Jason. Riverdale may look like a sleepy town, but danger lurks around every corner.

Ik zal wel niet de ideale doelgroep zijn maar dit is toch echt slecht? Acteerwerk trekt op niks, verhaal idem, locaties wordt veel te weinig mee gedaan, zijplots idem, zelfs de dames die erin meespelen en die in principe ook zijn gecast omdat ze er goed uitzien (waar blijft die 120 kg wegende actrice zou ik zeggen maar goed in deze serie kan je zoiets moeilijk gaan verwachten, allemaal afgepoederd past beter hier) zijn stuks voor stuk heel doorsnee qua uiterlijk vind ik. Nee, cliché tot en met en mijn ding echt niet.

Acting sucks, story idem, locations are done far too little, suddenly idem, even the ladies who play in it and who in principle were also cast because they look good (where is that 120 kg actress, I'd say but oh well in this series you can hardly expect something like this, all powdered off fits better here) are all very average in appearance I think. No, cliché up to and including and really not my thing.

Ik heb het met Riverdale tot seizoen 3 gered en ben toen afgehaakt wegens Glee achtige taferelen. Dit eerste seizoen viel mij in eerste instantie mee. Ik vond de sfeer wel apart en kreeg de feel van een sprookje. Nadat ik het eerste seizoen ging herbekijken met mijn vrouw kwam ik erachter dat het toch een stuk zoetsappiger was dan in mijn herinnering. Het scenario laat best wel te wensen over en het soap gehalte is niet overal even overtuigend. Verder vind ik K.J. Apa als Archie een verschrikking maar kan de rest er prima meer door. Bij een tweede kijkbeurt ben ik echter tot de conclusie gekomen dat het allemaal wat tegen valt.

I made it with Riverdale until season 3 and then dropped out because of Glee-esque scenes. This first season was okay with me at first. I thought the atmosphere was special and got the feel of a fairy tale. After I rewatched the first season with my wife, I found out that it was a lot sweeter than I remembered.

The scenario leaves a lot to be desired and the soap quality is not equally convincing everywhere. Furthermore, I find KJ Apa as Archie a horror, but the rest can do more.

On a second viewing, however, I came to the conclusion that it is all a bit disappointing.
