The story is all a bit slow this season, while we as viewers actually already know what happened, we still have to look at how they try to solve the case.
Still, it wasn't necessarily negative. I thought the whole Freebo thing was just too long, since we already see in the first episode that he is dead and they only give up the search much later. Yet this season there were also very strong points, for example the deepening between Miguel and Dexter. Little by little you get more and more insight into the character of Dexter and this is wonderfully developed. In fact, this is one of the better stories of the first three seasons.
The acting is also excellent. I personally don't get so annoyed by the character Quinn, I think that darkness is something. Where I could not appreciate Carpenter that much in the first season, that is becoming more and more. She seems to be able to empathize with her character more and more and you notice that on the screen.
This season has to be mainly about the story between Miguel and Dexter. Everything around it is usually not that interesting.

Slightly less than the two previous seasons. Just when you think Dexter couldn't get into more trouble last season, now it takes it one step further. A nice fact, but in my opinion this does not turn out well because of the annoying character Miguel. Especially halfway through the season it is very annoying when he calls Dexter for the umpteenth time in a day. The whole Freebo case is a little less than we're used to.
A good change is the development of Debra. She started out as the annoying character of the series, but is now incredibly interesting. Quinn is a fun and mysterious addition to the team, who I would like to see more often. The series still has a very high level as a production, but this season appealed to me a bit less.

I am so happy, almost euphoric, that I finally started this series properly. I started it many years ago, but stopped for some unknown reason after the third episode. So I just started all over again from the beginning on 31/12 and indeed those first 3 episodes seemed quite familiar to me and made me really crave the sequel.
Watched three seasons from 31/12/'24 to 10/01/'25 and so far I have not noticed any weakening anywhere, on the contrary, the first three seasons are of an outstanding level, which is why 3 x the full points was a given.
This is really a series completely after my own heart, the perfect crime-police-thriller series, with also a firm touch of dark humor and the presence of wonderful characters, including an overload of psychos and twisted minds, led by the sublime Dexter of course.
The perfect mix of genres, characters, storylines, setting,... provides the total picture in terms of experience and viewing experience. If a series can let you get so absorbed in the whole and you feel yourself as one with 1 or more characters, that gives extra dimension and perfection is very close, if not achieved.
So it's all the more bizarre that I stopped at that time.
